What is Ride Westcliffe! ?

Inspired by the mountains and valleys of the Wet Mountains and Sangre de Cristo foothills, Ride Westcliffe! is a series of annual recreational events for the whole family. Our premier event, the Ride Westcliffe! Century, is a fall charity bicycle ride that offers several routes, including a 100-mile fully supported century ride that travels from the gorgeous Wet Mountain Valley in Westcliffe through the rugged Wet Mountains to Colorado City and back; a metric century (69 miles) along the same route; and, a fun-filled guided family ride that encircles the old mining district north of the towns of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff and includes stops for lemonade and mining interpretation.

When should I start?

If it’s hot out you will need to drink more. At least half of the fluids you consume should contain carbohydrates and electrolytes, so make sure you drink water and an energy drink. Eat a solid meal the night before and the morning of, however allow plenty of time for your body to digest breakfast well before arriving at the start.
  9. Be prepared for a possible cold afternoon shower which could include snow or sleet so it is wise to carry a rain jacket and/or leg and arm warmers. However we expect sun – so wear sunscreen!  This is a rain or shine event so be prepared.
